The marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer which took place on the 29th of July 1981, was billed as one the biggest weddings occasions in history and attracted an estimated global TV audience of around 750 million people.
The fairy tale story held the world captive, with onlookers watching every move and turn of the amazing choreographed historical event.
Now 34 years later a set of 12 photographs that were taken at the wedding reception at Buckingham Palace, just hours after the royal wedding which followed the ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, are to be auctioned.
The photos were taken by Lord Lichfield who was the only person allowed to take the informal images. Auction spokesman Bobby Livingston said: “These never-before-seen photographs capture the candid and unrehearsed moments of the fairytale wedding.”
The Remarkable Rarities live auction event from RR Auction will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 24, 2015
