The elegantly restored, owner-managed Au d’HEX Boutique Hotel, wedding venue & restaurant lies in the heart of the Wellington in the Cape Winelands, just an hour from Cape Town. The converted Cape Dutch Homestead, dating back to 1798, is one of Wellington’s most historic locations.
The owners decided to share this piece of history and transformed the glorious building into a distinguished destination. The Estate, which still trades as a working farm, offers guests the opportunity to experience the annual harvest during the summer months. But no matter when you visit, you will appreciate a heavenly experience of superior hospitality together with a slice of heritage in tranquility, exclusivity and comfort.
Au d’Hex Boutique Hotel is also the quintessential wedding venue, with all the necessary amenities, luxury accommodation, five-star catering and a range of venues from which to choose to celebrate the occasion. We also do conferences, high teas, special birthdays, kitchen teas and bridal showers for groups.
The pride of this historic site is undoubtedly the floating jetty beneath a romantic Bedouin-style tent. The jetty overlooks the Hawequa Mountain range and is the perfect location to celebrate a special event, be it a wedding ceremony, a birthday function, Jazz ensemble, a celebratory dinner or film shoot.
Our restaurant, Au de Vine, is open Monday to Sunday offering gourmet breakfast and lunches with a French Flair in the Boland.
Reviews & Availibility
Tripadvisor: “Beautifully restored buildings, manicured gardens and soft sound of water trickling up and down from the dam makes one feel relaxed straight away. There is a deck out onto the dam where one can sit and enjoy the views of mountains in the distance.
The rooms are decorated, nothing over the top. I loved the way they integrate old and new i.e. kept the old original wooden floors but modernized shower/bathrooms area and made clever use of pieces of antique furniture.”
Tripadvisor: “We had a lovely couple of days at Au’ de Hex. The whole place is so romantic, the rooms are lovely and the setting is spectacular. The pool (only really a plunge pool) was great as the weather was really hot, and we really enjoyed the generous breakfasts.”
